Food gives us necessary chemicals that our body further uses to complete chemical reactions therein. Eating not enough proteins and minerals deprives our body of much needed ammunition to ward off diseases. Carbohydrates are only energy giving foods with little other nutritional value but given the fact they are tasty and addictive we end up consuming huge lots. An imbalanced diet leads to imbalance in body which depending on body type and hereditary factors manifests itself in the form of disease. Visualise a family not eating, breathing and exercising right, one member has a high blood pressure, second has acidity and bloating, third has frequent headaches and fourth feels lethargic and listless. Basically the problem is same but shows up in different forms going by age, activity and hereditary factors. Apart from food we take, water we drink and fresh air we breathe is also very important. If we just confine ourselves to conditioned environment and do not get fresh air then too it harms our bodies. Our homes should be cross ventilated, be it summer or winter one should open doors and windows at least two-three hrs each day to let fresh air in and drive away stale air. We should all set aside time for some form of exercise, pranayam or meditation too.
